Promotional Policy

If you run a music promotion channel on YouTube or any other video-sharing site, then please ensure that you follow these rules in order to make sure your video isn't taken down.

We will never strike your video using our publicly available music unless you do one of the following:

  • Post our music before it's release
  • Include filesharing links
  • Offer a free download of our music
  • Upload an edited version of music (ie. Bass Boosted)

Furthermore, we ask that in all videos where our music has been used, you place this template in the description of the video:

  1. Artist Name:
  2. SoundCloud Link:
  3. Purchase / Download Links:
  4. Label Channel: https://www.youtube.com/RefractedRecords
  5. Artist Social links:

As a default, your video will get a Content-ID match, don't worry as this won't affect your standing with youtube, nor effect your chance of joining a YouTube network. All this means is that the artist is guaranteed a fair percentage of the revenue made from the audio in your video. We as a label can still claim a fair percentage of the revenue from the adverts and visual aspects of your video.

If you dispute a copyright claim without explicit permission from us, then we will be forced to strike your channel, and unlike a Content-ID match, this will affect your standing with YouTube and will impinge on what YouTube offers you as a service.

We have come to terms with the sheer number of music promoters out there on YouTube, and would just like to thank you for your on-going support. All that we ask is that you respect these rules and value us as a label.

Gaming Policy

First and foremost; we love games! So much so that we've invested hundreds of hours of our lives into playing them and as everyone knows, music makes gaming more immersive. We love watching what you as creators create (cinematics, machinimas etc), and as such we'd like to offer you a fair deal in terms of a licence.

The licence basically follows the same rules as a promotional channel does. Although there are a few tweaks to the rules:

  • No pre-release music in videos
  • No inclusion of filesharing links
  • Offer a free download of our music
  • Use a website to audio converter to get our music for free
  • Use an edited version of our music (ie. Bass Boosted)

We are currently looking into possible ways to allow gamers to pay a subscription fee each month, in order to avoid copyright matches on their channel.
